Grant Application Process

  1. APPLICATION PROCESS: Grant applications must be submitted within the application period

    a. Late applications will be denied.

    b. Applications can be submitted via online form

    c. Applicants may only submit one grant per application period.

    d. Applicants with program funds from the prior grant cycle must complete a grant report before they are eligible to submit an application for the current grant cycle.

  2. APPROVAL PROCESS: Grant Approval Committee reviews applications

    a. Members of the committee are independent from the BCEF board and are made up of qualified educators.

    b. A rubric is used for scoring applicants

    c. Grant requests are approved/denied by the BCEF Grant Committee. If grants are not approved because of funding, we will hold it for review again during the next grant period.

  3. PAYMENT PROCESS: Payment for grant request is issued within 2 weeks of Grant Approval. Payment will be made to the school, designated for the teacher account. Teachers/school staff will be responsible for purchasing items request to fulfill grant

  4. GRANT EXECUTION: All funds must be spent by end of school year or returned to BCEF.

  5. GRANT REVIEW: Grant recipients will be expected to recap their grant success with a report by the end of the school year and will be invited to showcase their grant success in the Spring. Documentation such as videos, photographs, writings, artifacts, or testimonials are welcome and encouraged in addition to instructional data findings.

  6. PLEASE NOTE: Limited funds are available to Teachers and Staff to support the educational environment at students in Blount County Schools. Funding is subject to availability.

Who can apply for funding?

  • Any staff member of BCS

What is acceptable for grant requests?

  • Anything that enhances the BCS student’s educational experience.

  • Anything that enhances the BCS student’s environment; thus creating a better environment for learning.

What is not allowed for grant requests?

  • Anything that does not benefit the student body or staff of BCS.


Important Dates to Know

  • July 22 - August 16: Grant application period (no late grant applications accepted)

  • August 16 - 30: Grant committee meets to review applications

  • September 20: Applicants notified of approval/denial of grant application

  • Late September : Funds issued/delivered for grant

  • March 31: Grant recipient expected to give an update on status of grant

*If dates fall on a holiday/weekend, deadline will be moved to next business day
